Nebraska Board of Regents to discuss alcohol sales for Husker basketball games



The taps could be open this fall for Husker men’s and women’s basketball games. The University of Nebraska Board of Regents will discuss an amendment to allow for alcohol sales at Pinnacle Bank Arena beginning in the 2022-23 season during its meeting on Sept. 30.The amendment is sponsored by Nebraska Athletic Director Trev Alberts.The agenda also states that the regents will discuss a proposed 15-year, $300-million multimedia rights agreement with Playfly Sports Properties for the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.Regents will also be considering allowing UNL to select a “program manager, design team and construction firm” for Memorial Stadium renovations earlier than “articulated in Board policy.” According to the agenda, this would allow university leaders to consult experts from day one of the renovations.In February, regents voted to allow the president and respective chancellors to authorize the sale and consumption of alcohol at athletic events on campuses.Big Ten schools offering beer on tap for fans include Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, Ohio State, Purdue and Rutgers.During his tenure as athletic director at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Nebraska athletic director Trev Alberts approved alcohol sales at all sporting events at Baxter Arena, Tal Anderson Field and Connie Claussen Field.Previous coverage in the video at the top of the screen.
