Lincoln police arrest suspect in deadly stabbing



A 36-year-old woman was killed in a stabbing in Lincoln, police officers said in a news release.Police found the woman with serious injuries around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday on W. Fairfield Street. Investigators said she died at the hospital. Police said the suspect is 61-year-old Charles Alexander, who the victim reportedly knew. Alexander was taken into custody Wednesday morning around 10 a.m., according to Lincoln police. He was arrested for with second-degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony.The incident is still under investigation.An 18-year-old and a 19-year-old were also injured in a shooting in Lincoln Tuesday night. Police said one victim ran up to their cruiser near 22nd and Dudley streets and said he had been shot. While officers were tending to him, police said a 19-year-old victim ran out of a nearby house and also said he had been shot. Both victims were transported to the hospital. The 18-year-old had life-threatening injuries.Police believe the suspect is a 19-year-old Lincoln man who the victims knew.
